BCM Issues

I have been having various issues on my 99 Sierra 1500. After a lot of research I've narrowed it down to the BCM. My question is has anyone reprogrammed a used BCM to the options they had on their truck? I bought a used one from ebay..same part number, identical in every way. I called the dealer and explained what I had and they said they could REPROGRAM it for $100. So I went in only to have them tell me after about two hours that they could not enter any RPO codes. I went back and talked with the technician and he said it's probably their software that is not allowing them to do it and not a problem with my used BCM. All they ended up doing was the security relearn which I just found out I could have done myself.

Is there something they are not doing right? Or is it not possible to completely reflash this used BCM? The seller on eBay said it could be done.

had the same problem with gm on programming an air bag module. same thing bought off ebay it was from a yukon and i have a silverado. it had the same part number and gm could not program it. i found a guy who does aftermarket stuff and he was able to program it for me.

Yeah I got tired of going back and forth so I just bought a new one. It arrived today so I go to get it installed (at no charge because they told me they could do the other one and took my money when they knew they couldn't) I hate going to stealerships! I'll post the results tomorrow. Thanks for the reply

The new BCM is installed and everything works perfectly again. My new remote fob is in the mail so I'll know in a few days if that was in fact the problem with my keyless. The dealer showed me on the tester how the remote was not working. We'll see. Lesson learned: don't buy a used BCM. I still have no idea if it's even possible to reprogram a used one but I know the dealer cannot!

Update: the new key fob did not work. Dang! It must be an issue with my RCDLR. I'm not even gonna mess with it anymore. I'll just buy an aftermarket remote start/keyless entry and call it a day.

What is the RCDLR?

Remote control door lock receiver. Why you have any other ideas? I tried disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes and it still would not pick up the signal.

No ideas, I was just curious because my keyless entry works randomly. Any idea where this RCDLR is located?

No clue. I've researched some but got no definite answer

If you do end up finding it be sure and post your results!

Okay, will do. I'll see what I can find out later today.

Looked through it. Looks like the RCDLR may be in the passenger door...I'll know for sure in a few days as I just ordered a set of factory manuals for my truck.

By the way, you said yours worked randomly. Have you tried cleaning off the contacts in the remote?

    • Got the truck back today.  Called them yesterday to get an update, and miraculously my truck is finished?!?! The $13k out the door was complete bullshit!  Ended up being over $14k.  They added some bullshit service bulletin that I cant even find, where they replaced my radiator without telling me or asking me, and charging me for it.  Need to do more research into it, cause they leaked the first delivered radiator was ran over by FedEX.  Sounds like bullshit to me. 2.5 Months for an engine swap, which ended up being remanufactured, not new; ****ing ridiculous.  Brakes are squishy as hell, not sure if its from sitting.  Will give a couple days to see it that figures it self out.  GAVE IT BACK TO ME WITH 1 GALLON OF GAS!  Just filled the tank the day before drop off, more bullshit.  My dash cam SD card was formatted, not really much I can do about that. 3 year, 100k GM warranty at least.  Time to sell it and say **** off to GM.  Bad experience.  Cant wait for the survey email to come through.  Overpriced Raptor R, here I come!
    • If I forget the phone in the truck, and forget the truck in the phone, and reconnect.  It works great for the day.  Truck sits overnight, and the next day is a no go.  It will connect Android Auto via usb cable, but not bluetooth.   Ive tried Everything in this thread so far, and nothing works for more than a day.   I think I might have to go to the dealer and have them flash the pcm.   thanks for all the suggestions guys. 👍
    • 2022 2500HD Crew Z71 Duramax single alternator.  Recently had the primary (water pump / fan) belt tensioner pulley bearing to fail while hundreds of miles from home of course the plastic pulley melted and belt shredded which took out some wiring. Found a replacement tensioner assembly and belt to continue now would like to find a replacement for just the pulley and bearing to have a spare assembly in case of a repeat, the rest of the tensioner is fine. Has anybody here found a correct replacement part for just the pulley and bearing? Any help is appreciated.
    • +1 for the 3.0   Perfect for 1500 pickup towing duties.   Perfect engine for a 1500 pickup period. Huge torque at stunningly low RPM makes it feel a lot lighter than it is. The fuel mileage is insane for a tall and heavy 1500... 30+ on the highway. Mid 20's around town.   It's probably not perfect if you bought a 6.2 for the braaaaaaapppppp V8 noises and wrapping it out to 6k. The LZ0 acts and sounds like a small turbo diesel and there's nothing you can do to make a small turbo diesel sound like a big one, and you can't make an inline diesel sound like a V8 diesel/big Duramax. It's a different driving experience altogether.   Drive one, I think you'll like it, though...
    • I'll bet your truck lost the bearings on a roller on 1 of the lifters, and now is wiping out a cam lobe.
